From The Gunshy: The first mic I bought that was more than like $100 was a Shure SM7. You can find them on Reverb for about $300. They sound great on anything, especially vocals. Springsteen and Michael Jackson used them. Don’t go crazy with compression. Do go crazy and have fun with reverb. You can eq a lot of low end out vocals and guitar to make them less muddy. And there are a lot of good free plugins you can download. Don’t stress about it. Enjoy it. It doesn’t have to sound ‘pro’.
